BLACK RIVER RUN - 2021
The 10:th edition of BLACK RIVER RUN will take place on September 18-19, 2021 in Västerås, Sweden. The race is on a varied 10-mile loop on the northern edge of Västerås.
DISTANCES
100 miles (161 km)
50 miles (80,5 km)
20 miles (32,2 km)
CLASSES
Men and Women for each distance.
START and FINISH
The start and finish are in the same place, beside the club house of Västerås SOK. Sauna and showers are available in the club house.
THE COURSE
The course is varied, with each lap being 10 miles (16.1 km). Conditions vary from technical paths, trails and forest roads to some asphalt bicycle paths. A Swedish course description with plenty of pictures can be found here: banbeskrivningen.
START TIMES
09:30 - 20 miles
10:00 - 50 and 100 miles
The cut-off time for all distances is 30 hours.
It is dark between 19.00 and 06.00 and a headlamp is required
ACCOMMODATION
There is some space for tents next to the clubhouse and there is limited floor space inside the clubhouse. Please bring your own mattress. The Good Morning hotel is less than 1 km from the start/finish area.
FOOD
We provide a varied selection of cold snacks for runners (the usual ultra food), and hot food will be available at specific times during the night.
Runners are offered locally made sausages from the barbecue after finishing.
There is also a small Pizzeria next to the clubhouse that serves pizzas, hamburgers and excellent Lebanese food.
ENTRIES
Registration opens Dec 1, 2020. Please use the form by this link to enter. Your entry is not finalised until we have received the correct payment.
The maximum total number of permitted entries is 220, we will start a waiting list once places are full.
Don’t wait to enter, as this year we expect the race to have more than the maximum number of entries.
Entry fees:
100 miles: SEK 700
50 miles: SEK 600
20 miles: SEK 500
Payments by credit card during registration process.
Entries close on 31 July 2021.
If places are available, late entries can be made but will cost an extra SEK 200.
Note: Last entry before price increase is July 31 !!
BELT BUCKLES and MEDALS
Everyone who completes 100 miles in less than 24 hours will receive a belt buckle.
All finishers will receive a medal at the finish, but it is possible to decline a medal and instead donate money to charity. If you would like us to donate SEK 20 to Medecins Sans Frontieres on your behalf, rather than receiving a medal, please indicate this on the entry form. (This does not affect whether or not you would receive a belt buckle).
